Of those seven, Murphy won Best Actor for his role as J. Robert Oppenheimer in the film directed by Christopher Nolan, who also won Best Director.
The award had a special ingredient for Murphy: this was his first Oscar nomination in his career and therefore the first time he has won the Academy Award.
Previously, Murphy had already been recognised at the BAFTA 2024 and Golden Globe 2024 as Best Actor for his role in ‘Oppenheimer’.
